Communities at work

How will we live together? To answer this question of anticipation, shouldn’t we turn to the present? Start by observing what already surrounds us. Approach every project as a survey of living reality, and start from the energies we experience – the vivacity of community action.
What do we see? First and foremost, human communities. Together, they organize collective living situations, case after case, place after place. Secondly, places that are inhabited, built, developed, maintained and loved. In Hanoi, Bordeaux, Soweto or Detroit, in Mérignac, Johannesburg or Buenos Aires, we discover the intractable beauty of a world-archipelago where human communities produce concrete collective actions.
The materials presented in this exhibition seeks to set an example. Capturing and transforming the multiplicity of processes at work. What emerges is a highly improvisational architecture, an architecture in motion, made up of the work of communities.
